Be Strong & Courageous

March 1, 2014

"This is the day that the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it!" (Psalm 118:24) This verse is on my mind today. Yes, everyday is a gift. Thank the Lord for His love, promises, and gift of salvation through Jesus Christ.

Even during hard times, everyday is a gift. So when the tough times come, run to Jesus and stay with Him.

Phil and Kay Robertson share a powerful testimony about how Jesus Christ transformed their lives. Whether you are a fan of Duck Dynasty or not, please be sure to watch this video. It has an awesome message. Here's the video with Phil and Kay's testimony: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FjqccYmx13w

If you were to die today, do you... know for certain that you would be in heaven? It may sound morbid but no one escapes death. That's why it is so important to know Jesus, our Savior and Lord. Philippians 2:7-11 summarizes the gospel. Read on: "[Jesus] made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death— even death on a cross! Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father."

Today I want to share with you a few comforting Bible verses and a meaningful quote from Sheila Walsh and Corrie ten Boom. Always remember that Jesus loves you. His love, forgiveness, and grace is open to all. Call on Jesus and come to Him. Click here to learn more about Jesus.

"There are some things on earth that we will never understand. But the love [Jesus] that heals all, transforms all, and brings life to all - it is the same... His love longs to touch every life and allow it to reach into Him as well." -Sheila Walsh (www.sheilawalsh.com)

"Worry is a cycle of inefficient thoughts whirling around a center of fear." -Corrie ten Boom

"There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear…" -1 John 4:18

Jesus said in John 8:36, "So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed."

It's a new year and a time to start afresh. Isn't that wonderful? The Lord makes all things new through Him. It makes me think about 2 Corinthians 5:17 which says, "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new." Praise the Lord!

This year I hope to post more often here. I plan to post Scripture the most. Please check back often! God bless you!

This morning, I enjoyed watching a sermon by Adrian Rogers called How to Make the Bible Come Alive. He presented several points that will help us experience more meaningful time in the Word. I encourage you to watch the sermon in full: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OAIQ5ste23w.

Here are a few points that I especially liked from his message:

Keep a pen in hand. Dr. Rogers suggests keeping a pen in hand while reading the Bible. Be ready to write down what the Lord reveals to you through the Scriptures. Be ready to receive a message and keep your heart open for it.

Read in context. It’s important to read the Bible in context. For example, try reading a book from beginning to end. The content will make a lot more sense.

Apply what you learn. You wouldn’t just read a cook book without working out the recipes. The same is true for the Bible. Live out what Jesus says in daily life.

Lastly, here are six tips that Dr. Rogers presented in the sermon:

“6 Questions to Ask While Reading a Passage of Scripture”

1.       Is there a promise?

2.       Is there a lesson to learn?

3.       Is there a blessing to enjoy?

4.       Is there a command to obey?

5.       Is there a sin to avoid?

6.       Is there a new thought to carry with you?

With that, I’ll end for today and I pray that the Lord will bless you abundantly this week. He is always good and faithful. Remember, Jesus loves you and He is with you!

With all the evil in this world, it’s easy to feel discouraged. But I’d like to remind you of Someone far greater than anything in this world and His name is Jesus. He said in John 16:33, “I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” He did exactly that on the cross - for you and me. Read all of John 16 here: http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=john+16&version=ESV

No matter who you are or how you’ve lived your life, God will receive you into His family. He will change you and make you complete. Trust Him as millions of others have done and experience His mercy for yourself. Watch this compelling video by Billy Graham's ministry here: http://youtu.be/aLHsQF131HQ

Today it is on my heart to share with you one important fact: Jesus never changes. He is always good, loving, and merciful. Sometimes we can feel down on ourselves for our shortcomings, difficulties in relationships, or life in general. When challenges happen, don't run from God. Instead, turn your heart to Jesus. His love, understanding, and compassion never fail. Isn't that amazing? Life may not be a joyride, but you can find hope in Christ to face anything. He never gives us more than we can handle - with His help.

I am excited to start my first blog! I will try to share videos, devotionals, and articles that are fun, inspirational, or interesting. Check back often and visit me! :)  I’ll close with a Bible verse that has been on my heart today: “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” Deut. 31:6

God is blessing you, Carrie
